Princeville on Kauai's North Shore

Princeville is located on Kauai's North Shore between the villages of Kilauea and Hanalei.  Princeville is a community primarily of high end homes, formerly over $1 million in price but now averaging well below that.  It is positioned on a bluff overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean and is backdropped by jagged mountains with cascading waterfalls.  Here you will find golf courses, manicured lawns, and a pristine appearance throughout the community.  Princeville is isolated from the rest of the island, a feature that most of those living there prefer.  Shopping and medical facilities require driving to Kapaa or Lihue, a round trip of 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

The one road circling the island passes through Princeville and then ends in Haena at Ke'e Beach 11 miles away.  The drive on this stretch of road goes through the village of Hanalei.  Beyond Hanelei, the road becomes narrow and winding with multiple one-lane bridges.  The end of the road is the starting point of the world-famous Kalalau Trail used by backpackers to get to Kalalau Valley, another 11 miles away.  Hanalei Bay, Tunnels beach, Limahuli Gardens, and the wet & dry caves are attractions between Princeville and Ke'e Beach.
